Experience Sweden's history for yourself

On the island of Djurgården, at bus stop 12 and a five minute walk from boat stop 5, you can walk through Swedish history by entering the Skansen main entrance. Skansen is the world’s oldest open-air museum, showcasing the whole of Sweden with around 150 houses and farmsteads from every part of the country. At Skansen, you can discover Sweden’s history and find out how Swedes once lived according to the changing seasons, through the customs and traditions, work, celebrations and everyday life of times gone by.

Your ticket gives you access to Skansen itself, the Children’s Zoo and the Baltic Sea Science Center. As well as showcasing Swedish history, Skansen is also home to wild Nordic animals, such as wolves, moose and lynxes. The Children’s Zoo – Lill-Skansen - hosts about thirty smaller animal species, including goats, chickens, guineapigs and kittens, and also has a bunny hill and a playground.

Over at the Baltic Sea Science Center, you can discover the underwater water from the Stockholm Archipelago to the open sea. The Center has multiple aquariums with different water systems and habitats that show the various Baltic Sea environments which make it unique.
